Ayke Agus Ayke Agus, violinist and pianist, is known as the last accompanist for the world renowned Russian violinist, Jascha Heifetz, during his last 15 years. Agus began her concert career at the age of 7 as both violinist and pianist. A native of Indonesia, she came to the United States on scholarship to study in Buffalo, New York. She became the youngest member of the Buffalo Philharmonic, and was a first prize winner in many local competitions. She became a student of Heifetz in his master class at USC and pursued her master’s degree. While studying the violin in his class, she was invited to fill in for the ailing pianist of the master class. She was subsequently engaged as Heifetz’ pianist for his class and for himself until his death in 1987. Together with the famous Russian cellist, Gregor Piatigorsky, she often performed as pianist in piano trios in concerts with Heifetz.
